Chico Mendes Institute is a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) that develops programs, actions and projects seeking the conservation of natural resources to improve the quality of life of this and future generations.
Headquartered in the municipality of Quatro Barras, metropolitan region of Curitiba (PR) and superintendent in Fortaleza (CE), we operate throughout the national territory.
Since the founding in 2004, the International Institute for Research and Social and Environmental Responsibility Chico Mendes has developed actions that contribute to environmental conservation and protection, human development and social inclusion, through income generation, diffusion of techniques and knowledge, events, research and social action projects.
The ideological basis of this organization interprets man as the transforming agent capable of promoting advances or setbacks regarding the environmental quality to be inherited by future generations.
The Institute pays tribute to the name of Francisco Alves Mendes Filho (1944 - 1988), a Brazilian rubber tapper from Amazon, internationally remembered as a symbol of resistance in the face of environmental degradation.
National Highlight among Non-Governmental Organizations that are really committed to social and environmental causes, the Institute is acting in several ways to promote the change of concepts and attitudes in Brazilian society, aiming at social justice, environmental balance and respect for life!
